Team Cycling Challenge

 

The ever popular 72km and 36km Team Cycling Challenge returns with the unique handicapping system based on age and gender.

Eligibility

 

The 72km Team Cycling Challenge is open to all cyclists 17 years and over in the calendar year of the event (born 2002 or earlier). The 36km Team Cycling Challenge is open to all cyclists 15 years and over in the calendar year of the event (born 2004 or earlier). Team Composition

 

The Team Cycling Challenge  will comprise of 4 (minimum) to 6 (maximum) riders.

The team time will be taken from the third rider to cross the line.

Team Cycling Challenge (72km and 36km)

 

Open - Time trial bars permitted

Bikes without time trial bars all team bikes do not have time trial bars

 

Handicap System

 

Team Cycling Challenge (72km)

The times will be adjusted on the basis of the following:

A team will be eligible for a 2 minute time deduction for each female rider in a team

A team will be eligible for a 2 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 50 years

A team will be eligible for a 4 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 60 years

A team will be eligible for a 6 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 70 years

A team will be eligible for a 10 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 80 years

 

Team Cycling Challenge (36km)

The times will be adjusted on the basis of the following:

A team will be eligible for a 1 minute time deduction for each female rider in a team

A team will be eligible for a 1 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 50 years or under the age of 17 years

A team will be eligible for a 2 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 60 years or under the age of 15 years

A team will be eligible for a 3 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 70 years

A team will be eligible for a 5 minute time deduction for each rider over the age of 80 years

 

Note: The handicapping deductions will be determined from the age of the rider at the end of the calendar year of the event (31 December).

 

Prizes

 

Prizes will be available for the winner based on overall fastest time and handicap for each of the Team Cycling Challenge categories for both the 72km and 36km events.

Solo Time Trial

 

The hallmark 36km Solo Time Trial event will again see the winners crowned as King and Queen of de Valley across four categories for men and women. After a successful debut last year, the 72km Solo Time Trial returns for the ‘endurance’ kings and queens with their chance to take on the longest individual time trial event on the eastern coast of Australia.

Note: A rider’s category is determined from the age they are at the end of the calendar year of the event (31 December).

 

Prizes

 

All category placegetters will receive prizes with the 36km winners to be crowned the King and Queen of the Valley respectively.

 

They will receive a lasting memento of their achievement.

 

Note: The time for the first lap of the 72km Solo Time Trial is counted so riders will also be eligible for the 36km TT prizes.

QLD State Team Time Trial Championship

 

For the first time, the QLD State Team Time Trial Championships will also be conducted as part of the event. Cycling QLD clubs and registered teams will be able to compete across a number of age divisions for men and women for their chance to be crowned State Champions!

Eligibility

 

The QLD State Team Time Trial Championships is open to all Cycling Queensland (CQ) members U17 and over. Riders can participate as a member of their club team or as a member of a CQ registered team.

 

Team Composition

 

Teams will comprise of a maximum of 4 riders.

The team time will be taken from the third rider to cross the line.

Masters 4 plus – 36km

Masters 1-3 – 36km

Elite – 36km

 

Men

 

Under 17 – 18km

Medallions will be awarded to the riders in the first three placed teams in each category and a plaque will be presented to the winning team in each category
